KAVI movie: The Driller Killer (1979) K18

The KAVI Regional Series is a film series organised by the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI), the Central Finland Film Centre (KSEK) and the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä (JYY), showing classic films on 35 mm film at Ilokivi Venue.

In several of his later films, such as Bad Lieutenant (1992), starring Harvey Keitel, American director Abel Ferrara presents the dark and sordid side of New York, but his first non-pornographic film really started from a dark and dirty place: in this cult classic, which was understandably banned, Ferrara (under the pseudonym Jimmy Laine) suffers a nervous breakdown after numerous misfortunes, driving him to the streets of New York at night with an electric drill in his hand, killing random passersby.
