Asa – Leijonaa metsästän 20 years

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Asa’s Leijonaa metsästän album. To celebrate the milestone, the long-standing wordsmith is heading out on a six-city Leijonaa metsästän 20v Tour. The shows will feature the now-classic album performed in full, along with a curated selection of other gems from Asa’s discography. Tickets for the tour are now on sale.

Released in April 2005, Leijonaa metsästän was a major turning point in Asa’s career. Having stepped away from live performances in 2001, the artist—then known as Avain—spent nearly four years in silence before the Leijonaa metsästän CD single was released inside Posse magazine in the summer of 2004. The artist’s name had changed from Avain to Asa, the soundscape now featured a Roma-inspired horn riff, and the lyrics had taken on a new level of complexity. Poetry and metaphysics flowed alongside political themes, observing the state of the Finnish nation through imagery like “dancing on empty streets during Formula Sundays.”

The single was followed by a full-length album produced by Jukka Immonen and Davo, which took listeners by surprise. By the following summer, Asa had become a familiar face at festivals across Finland.
