KAVI Movie: My life as a dog (1985)

The KAVI Regional Series is a film series organised by the National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI), the Central Finland Film Centre (KSEK) and the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä (JYY), showing classic films on 35 mm film at Ilokivi Venue.

Based on author Reidar Jönsson’s autobiography, this dramatic comedy was nominated for two Oscars and won a Golden Globe for its touching story of Ingemar, who lives with his brother, his dog, and his seriously ill mother, but is sent to spend the summer with relatives in the countryside in Smoolanti. Ingmar has enough to deal with, not only his mother’s illness, but also the eccentric characters in the small village, but the sensitive boy’s mind is preoccupied with Laika, the cosmonaut dog sent alone into space.
