Is it okay to tell a child honestly what you think of them? What if that thought isn’t pretty or doesn’t fit the parenting standards? Is motherhood still sacred? Can a mother behave badly? Can mothers think about sex? And what about fathers—are they still praised just for participating in everyday life? These and many other parenting-related questions are tackled with sharp humor in the stand-up show Huonostyi käyttäytyvät äidit.
Johanna Tohni skillfully weaves stories together, arriving at incredible insights about her own motherhood and her relationship with her mother—without forgetting the father’s role. Johanna’s solo show is based on years of peer discussions and observations gathered while raising her own children through their prime teenage years. She has experience with a nuclear family, single motherhood, and blended family dynamics, and all of these are explored through spot-on analysis and hilariously relatable snapshots of everyday life.
Stand-up comedian Johanna Tohni has been performing on comedy stages since 2012. You may have seen her on Nelonen’s Stand Up! show or in TTT Club’s popular productions Mars vs. Venus? and Mars vs. Venus? 2 – The Rematch. Johanna is also a member of the All Female Panel. The writing of this show was supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Ticket proceeds support the activities of Landen Kaiku ry.
